Services

In this section, you can configure network services when you wish to manage files via NFS/FTPS/Samba, set up SMTP server, enable download service, share music files to iTunes and provide service for DLNA compatible devices.

Samba

Samba provides a function to allow the user to access files and printers from PC and Mac. Click the Samba icon to configure Samba service.

The following table identifies the fields and buttons shown in the SAMBA setup page.

Field Description
Enable SAMBA service Select the checkbox to enable SAMBA service.
Workgroup Name Specifies the workgroup that the users are in.
Apply Click to save changes.

FTPS

InteractiveSharing provides a service to allow file transfers over the network using the SFTP protocol. Security in FTP is provided by employing SSL cryptographic protocol. The user can use specific FTP client software to transfer files with the server.

Click FTP icon to configure FTP service.

The following table identifies the fields and buttons shown in the FTP server setup page.

Field Description
Enable FTP Service Select the checkbox to enable FTP service
Port Specifies the port number used by the FTP server. By default, port 21 is a reserved TCP port used by FTP protocol to initiate and control connections to FTP servers. If this port is not available or blocked, it can be changed to a different port number.
Max Clients Specifies the maximum connections allowed in FTPS service. To control the loading on the system and the transfer bandwidth, FTPS clients can be limited according to your own preferences.
Max Clients per Host Specifies the maximum connections from each IP.
Apply Click to save changes.

NFS

InteractiveSharing provides a service to allow users to share files and folders over the network using NFS protocol. Via NFS, you can access files on a remote system as well as access local files.

Click the NFS icon to configure NFS service.

The following table identifies the fields and buttons shown on the NFS page.

Field Description
Enable NFS Service Select the checkbox to enable NFS service.
Click the Add button to add a host IP.
Click the Delete button to delete a host IP.
Host Specifies the host IP address.
Read Only Specifies that the authentication of the user is read only.
Read & Write Specifies that the authentication of the user is read and write.
Add Click to add a directory
Delete Click to delete a directory
Save Click to save changes.
Refresh Click to refresh the page

iTunes

The iTunes service allows the user to share music and videos located on the NAS with iTunes users on the local network. Simply install iTunes on your PC or Mac and use iTunes as a multimedia player to browse and play music and videos on your NAS.

Click the iTunes icon to configure iTunes service.

The following table identifies the fields and buttons shown in the iTunes service setup page.

Field Description
Enable iTunes Service Select the checkbox to enable iTunes service.
Server Name Specifies the name of the iTunes server
Music Folder Click Browse to specify a folder on your NAS to be scanned for music files and videos.
Rescan Interval Specifies how often to scan the folder.
Apply Click to save changes.

Media Server/DLNA

The Media Server/DLNA service allows the user to stream digital multimedia files on the NAS to DLNA compatible home devices, such as IPTV, PS3 or XBox360.

Click the DLNA icon to configure DLNA service.

The following table identifies the fields and buttons shown on the Media Server setup page.

Field Description
Enable Media Server Service Select the checkbox to enable Media Server/DLNA service.
Service Name Specifies the name of the service.
Media Folder Click Browse to specify a folder on your NAS to share multimedia files.
Rescan Interval Specifies how often to scan the folder.
Strict DLNA Select the checkbox if the home device is compatible strictly with DLNA standard
TiVo Enabled Select the checkbox to enable TiVo.
Apply Click to save changes.
