Login

InteractiveSharing can be accessed via a web browser, from the local network or remotely in the office or on-the-road. To locate the NAS and find its IP address, we recommend using the Discover Tool for PC users and the NAS Builder for Mac users.

iSharing Finder on Windows

The Discover Tool can be used to locate and access the NAS on your local network.

Download the iSharing Tool for Windows at http://wiki.myFantec.com/isharing_finder_pc.zip

  1. Make sure that the NAS has already been connected to the same local network as your computer and that the power is turned on. Wait for the system to initialize (flashing green light becomes solid green light - approximately 60 seconds)

  2. Wait at least 15 seconds after turning on the NAS and then start the Discover Tool. It will automatically search for the device. If it does not find it, click Rescan to start the search again and make sure the program is not being blocked by a firewall.

  3. After the NAS has been discovered, select it and click Connect , or double click on it to enter the login page. The Internet Login Portal shows the corresponding login website. Click Go and you can access the NAS remotely through the internet.

The user can also map the NAS to a local drive to access its shared files.

  • Click Mapping and the mapping page appears.

  • Click on the address box to select the file address you wish to map. By default, the available addresses include admin, public and device. The user can also map the NAS through Webdav.

  • Click on the device box to select a drive to map the NAS on it.

  • Input the username and password of the NAS and click OK. The mapped drive will be shown in the My Computer window.

iSharing Finder on Mac

The iSharing Finder can be used to locate and access the NAS on your local network.

Download the iSharing Tool for Mac OS at http://wiki.myFantec.com/isharing_finder_mac.app.zip
  • Make sure that the NAS has already been connected to the same local network as your computer and that the power is turned on. Wait for the system to initialize (flashing green light becomes solid green light - approximately 60 seconds)
  • Wait at least 15 seconds after the NAS is initialized and then start the iSharing Finder. Click Scanning to find the device.
  • After the NAS has been discovered, select it and click Connect, or double click on it to enter the login page. The Internet Login Portal shows the corresponding login website. Click Go and you can access the NAS remotely through the internet.

Local Login

After finding the IP address of your NAS on your local network, you can access the device through a web browser.

  1. Launch your web browser.
  2. Input the IP Address of your NAS as the URL.
  3. The default user name is admin and the default password is admin. For security reasons, we strongly recommend changing the password for the administrator account after the first login.

Remote Login

Your NAS can also be accessed remotely through the Internet.

  1. Launch your web browser.
  2. Go to http://myFantec.com or https://myFantec.com
  3. Your default home server name is the MAC address of your NAS. You can find this number on a sticker either on the retail packaging or the device itself.
  4. After you click the Enter button, myFantec.com will bring you to the login page of your NAS.
  5. You can also login directly by using this syntax: http://xxx.myFantec.com. The “xxx” should be replaced by your server name. By default, it is the MAC address of your NAS.
If the checkbox Remember me is checked, the web browser will remember the username that was just typed in. The next time you go to myFantec.com, the username box will be filled in automatically.
